Walking Sideways

Lyrics:

Walking sideways in the dark
softly, slowly, right off mark
I can’t say that I know where
mist-crowned peaks grow tall and fair

Moss can grow through all the cracks
of the sidewalk, ‘neath the grass
Ships sail swiftly with their masts
pointing northward (home at last)

(Chorus)
If you see a cold, grey jail
and you know ’tis but a veil
sparkling like a thousand stars
waking up behind those bars

Never choose a man who you
know will strangely watch the moon
To see that he stays so true
to his pack of wolves that brew

Special potions there to try
to open gates closed by the sly
Doors shut for so long a year
that the keys rust in a lair

(Chorus)

If you wondered where we went
Time would show us,
small and bent
Maybe that’s a cruel slow fate
to show heroes born of late

But ’til then it’s wondrous fun
to see places ‘nder the sun.
